There’s something spiritual about Peru that just draws me in. The respect for the land and its products is impressive. I always try to include some time with a shaman on my trips to get a sense of that strong belief and connection. Pachu Mama (Mother Earth) is the goddess revered by the indigenous people of the Andes. Although she has her own creative power to sustain life on this earth, almost all Peruvians believe that problems arise when people take too much from nature because they are taking too much from Pachu Mamma.
The places we usually explore are in the Sacred Valley. This is where we discover ancient Inca ruins, including the enigmatic citadel of Machu Picchu, amidst natural beauty. We traverse the area many ways like hiking, biking, rafting and camping the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu or taking a seven-day hiking journey while staying at beautiful mountain lodges. We visit the colorful markets, learn to weave, and discover the ancient farming traditions. I also love flying over the famous Nazec lines as well as exploring the Amazon.
