Here are a few examples of places we travel to and Robin's take on the locaton. We've included a sample itinerary of each (some are part of our set departures), but don't let that stop your imagination of what we can provide. The best part of the countries we visit is the relationship we've established with the local operators who have become our friends. In the unlikely case they can't arrange something, they know someone who can. If the location is not on our upcoming list, ask about custom departures.

About This Trip

South Africa is stunningly beautiful. Every time I go there, I try to mix it up so I’m always exploring new things.

Here are some things Steppin' Out has done in the past:
- Surfing down sand dunes
- Kayaking on the neck of the Indian Ocean
- Biking through the winelands
- Ziplining through the Tsitikamama forest canopy.

At night, we go to a local shabeen (bar) where the owner and his friends sit with us and tell stories of the protests to end apartheid. One of my favorite stops is walking with lions in a conservation area; there’s a whole remarkable process for putting lions back in the wild. Spending time in the townships is eye opening. On one occasion, one of my travelers actually saved the life of a young girl who had overdosed. Because she thought he was a doctor (because he was white and a man, she listened to him). This young man assessed the situation, took on the role he needed, and escorted her to the hospital. After that experience, he gave up his career in sales and went into social work.
